Royal Kebab demo on laptop and phone

The context

A well-known local shop without a website: only a Facebook page and a Google Maps listing.

The challenge

Show the menu, prices and phone number at a glance, for a customer in a hurry and on a phone. After the first demo, the owner asked for less text and clearer prices.

My role

  • Two versions of the interface, the second one following the owner’s feedback.
  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript build, a 12-category menu with prices incl. VAT.
  • English version, light and dark mode, remembered.
  • Local SEO, Google Search Console, Bing and Lighthouse quality checks.

Start from what exists

The shopfront photos, the dishes and the prices already existed. I mostly put them in order, without adding useless text.

Listen to the owner

The first demo was too busy. The owner wanted less text, more pictures and easier prices. The second version follows those three points.

Less text, more pictures, clearer prices.

The price on the photo

For a kebab shop, the question is “how much?”. Every dish carries its price in yellow, right on the photo.

Every dish shows its price, readable from afar.

Made for the phone

A fixed bar at the bottom of the screen: call, see the menu, get there. Today’s hours are visible straight away.

Two languages, two lights

A full English version for visitors passing through, and a remembered dark mode.

Quality and launch

Fonts hosted on the server, Google Maps loaded only on click, bilingual sitemap, Search Console and Bing. A “demo” banner stays visible.

A demo, not a commission

I made this site to show my work to the owner, who agreed to have it published and shown here. It carries a “demo site” banner and will be removed on simple request.
